In my opinion, Bella Italia has the worst daytime running light law of all. It applies only to highways and state roads (strada statiale, SS). But how are people – especially tourists – to know when they happen to be driving on one? My advice: just leave your lights on all the time. That will save you the trouble of wondering and keep you out of discussions with the carabinieri.
